So hard to just draw away for a single heartbeat.
A shudder erupted through Angelwing's body as she heard it again. Wailing and yowling of pain and battle. "No..." She murmured, her eyes squeezed shut. "Leave me alone!" The whole night had been filled with these desolate cries of pain. And the horrible thing was, Angelwing could do nothing about it. Her jaws parted in a silent wail. What did they want with her? And more importantly, who were they? Twisting around in her soft mossy nest again, the white warrior's ocean-blue eyes shot open like her prey had just come back from the dead and bitten her.
Panting breathlessly, Angelwing flopped her head back onto the moss, letting all the fright of the nightmare out of her. Now she saw the early morning sunlight peeking through the gaps in the twigs above her head. Time to get up. Eyes heavy, the white warrior got to her paws. She couldn't even push the nightmare to the back of her mind. She couldn't stop thinking about it.
