Personality: Maplepaw is a humorous tom. He loves to be around other cats, and to crack jokes. He doesn't like to be alone, for he gets nervous. Maplepaw is a very emotional cat though, and hates being insulted. He holds grudges for a long, long time. He becomes very fierce when angered. He makes friends easily, and enemies and well. The feeling that pains Maplepaw the most is betrayal. He likes to visit the sick and injured cats that are being cared for in by the medicine cat, fro he's a very caring and loving cat. He does not like to see others in pain.
History: Maplepaw was born into a litter of 3 kits. His mother died giving birth. There was only one other queen at the time, and she ran out of milk, caring for not only her own kits, but Maplepaw and his siblings. Maplepaw's sister died soon after, and one of the queen's own kits. Maplepaw's father helped care for the kits too; by keeping them warm at night, and washing them. But the kits still did not have enough milk, for the queen was sick, and it was a very cold leaf-bare. Maplepaw (Maplekit at the time) and his brother- Mottledkit- were very close as kits.
The kits survived the leaf-bare. When they became apprentices, Mottledpaw felt more aggresive against Maplepaw. Maplepaw never knew why, but when he tried to be close to his brother, Mottledpaw would chase him off. Once they got into a fierce fight, and Maplepaw still has a scar on his stomach because of it.
When walking through the woods one day, Maplepaw spotted Mottledpaw talking with a group of ShadowClan cats- some of the apprentices as well. Maplepaw found his brother with them many times after that, and one day asked him about it. After that, Mottledpaw tried to avoid his brother. But Maplepaw was curious, and fallowed him. The apprentice discovered that the cats were plotting against ThunderClan. Maplepaw didn't want to tell on his brother, but the Warrior Code made it clear that he could not keep secrets like this from his leader. So he told her. Mottledpaw was punished severely and told never to meet with those cats again. But he did not listen to his leader. Mottledpaw continued meeting them, and led them into battle against ThunderClan. ThunderClan defeated them, but Mottledpaw was sent into exile. Maplepaw never saw his brother again.
IC: Maplepaw opened his mouth to drink in the scents around him. He detected the scent of mouse, and spotted it scuffling around some dead leaves. Maplepaw dropped into the hunters' croutch. He swayed back and forth on his haunches, then pounced. He landed on the mouse, and dispatched it with one blow with his paw. Maplepaw dug up some dirt, then buried the mouse; he would come back for it later.
Suddenly the reek of ShadowClan hit his scent glands. Maplepaw looked up, startled. What would ShadowClan be doing here? he thought in bewilderment. He fallowed the scent along the abandoned Thunderpath, then the scent crossed over it. Maplepaw bounded accross the Thunderpath, into the thick undergrowth on the other side. He thought he could hear faint murmurings coming from up ahead. As he drew closer, Maplepaw realized that he was right, he could voices up ahead.
The scent of ShadowClan overwhelmed him. It was almost sickening. He could make out what the ShadowClan cats were saying now.
"They won't suspect a thing" one of the meowed.
"Yes, our leader sure will be proud," meowed another.
Maplepaw's heart was racing. It sounded like they were planning an attack.
"So we'll simply fallow the Thunderpath back to their camp." meowed the first cat.
"It's brilliant," meowed the second.
Then a new voice spoke, and Maplepaw recognized it instantly, "I'm glad to be able to help. ThunderClan is finished," with a sickening feeling in his stomach, Maplepaw recognized the voice of his brother.
