His mentor was caught up in her duties, so he had asked Shatteredheart to take him out. The apprentice was close to his warrior stage, and he was excited. He leaped up and took off, and then stopped. He waited for Shatteredheart to catch up, and sat, grooming his chest fur a couple of times.
A rustle in the bushes announced a squirrel. The apprentice scented it and imeediately tracked it. Rustedpaw slid forward with the wind ocming at him, and leaped. The squirrel's fur brushed his jaw as he finished it off and he brought it back to the clearing where he was waiting. Life was good.

_________Shattered / heart_________
Shatteredheart sniffed at the fresh air, happy to be out again and not stuck in the den. The camp didn't seem active much anymore, and she wondered why everyone seemed so out - of - it. They didn't seem like they were here. Mythstar hardly called any Clan meetings, so no one knew what was really going on. Wildstorm organized the patrols, like a normal deputy would. But that was about it. Shatteredheart gave her long, silver and gray speckled fur a couple of long licks. It had actually been a good while since she had gave herself a full wash. She couldn't wait to go out into the fresh air, and taste the victory of the prey in her waiting and hungry mouth. Her stomach gave a loud rumble.
She turned around and saw Rustedpaw stalking a squirrel who had been stupid enough to actually show itself almost right outside of the ShadowClan camp. The she-cat sniffed the air. Sure enough, it was a young squirrel, barely out of it's nest. It had not known that a group of cats - hungry cats lived here. But it's life had already ended as it made it's fatal mistake. Shatteredheart watched with approval as the apprentice finished off his kill quickly and took it back to the clearing where he was waiting for her. She nodded curtly in approval at his catch and shifted her eyes towards the fresh-kill pile. That was meant for him to place it there. Shatteredheart hardly spoke these days. Ever since she had gotten into a fight with the old ShadowClan leader, she was always feeling gloomy and miserable. The explanation was in her name. Shatteredheart says it all.
She noticed how close Rustedpaw was to having his ceremony. His mentor must notice as well how good he was coming along in his training. Perhaps she and him could go and talk to his mentor, and tell her about his progress. If they had a good time hunting that is. She walked over towards him, and meowed, Let's go ahead and head out, Rustedpaw. After this, if it goes well, we can go and speak to your mentor about your progress.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Rustedpaw meowed a greeting to Shatteredheart, glad she had shown up. He nodded to her words and set off, tracking down a vole this time. He stalked slowly through the bracken, sniffing the air. There was definetely a vole nearby. But something else... He pounced on the vole and took its life, and at the same instant, and mouse leaped from the bushes. He chased it, but lost it. He padded back to his vole and put it with the squirrel. I missed the mouse.. He meowed. Oh well. I got a vole out of it. Suddenly happier, he set off hunting again

_________Shattered / Heart_________ Shatteredheart nodded curtly, and then she followed after him, catching a whiff of rabbit on the breeze. She twitched her ear. She hadn't tasted rabbit in days, but she knew she wouldn't be fast enough to catch it. She felt her mind giving away under the stress of the Clan, and her depression was getting worse. She hadn't seen Mythstar around for days, she was actually getting worried about her leader. She didn't know what was happening to ShadowClan. The cats hung around the camp like shaodowy rainclouds. She shook her thick fur, and seeing the matted state of it, began to feel disgusted with herself for neglecting it for so long.
She sniffed the air again, giving her rough fur some long licks, tasting the bitterness of her fur, and spitting out bits of dirt, mud, and plant debris. She then suddenly found a trail of a mouse. She carefully pin-pointed it's position, then she crouched down and began to stalk it, feeling no emotion for this hunt. She wasn't hungry, and she wasn't excited.

Fire seemed to spew out behind him, that's how fast he ran. Soon, a rabbit fell to his claws. The young tom carried it back to the clearing, and buried it. When he set off again, he noticed Shatteredheart prowling after a mouse. He smiledi nwardly and turned onto his own trail. The mouse he was tracking burst out of its cover, and he chased it across the bracken and ferns. It soon fell to his claws, but he scented the air. Something wasn't right.
Kyahh! Fur met in his teeth as Tornadopaw leaped onto Rustedpaw, attacking with the strength of a warrior. Tornadopaw's legs flew as he clawed at Rustedpaw's side, but Rustedpaw flipped over and knocked the apprentice off. He turned to retaliate, but Tornaopaw was bearing down on him, and soon teeth were close to Rustedpaw's throat. Shatteredheart! Help! He cried, knowing it was his last chance of survival.
ooc;; If you have any thunderclan cats, you can bring them in.

_________Shattered / heart_________ Shatteredheart let out a snarl, Get away from Rustedpaw you mangy furball! She flung herself at the ThunderClan apprentice, hissing, her claws unsheathed. Well, my fur does taste horrible. . . She thought with satisfaction. The tom would not be able to bit her fur. She made another mental note to wash herself when her and Rustedpaw got back from hunting. Shatteredheart had aimed for Tornadopaw's stomach, hoping to slice it open and leave the cat howling in the undergrowth. ShadowClan's leader may not be very active, but her Clan sure was, and they'd show it to this foolish cat.

Gritting his teeth in determination, despite the pain now brusting from his stomach where Shatteredheart had clawed him, he hissed and swatted for her ears. Die you scum! Shadowclan is useless in the forest. Now go crawl in a hole and stay there, like you belong. He snarled, glowering.
Sudden pinpricks of rage at the apprentice's words sent Rustedpaw into a state of delirium and rage. He leaped at the apprentice, swatting his paw away from Shatteredheart's ears, and, because she had already weakened the apprentice, he found it easy to send him back howling into the undergrowth. But the unforgettable words that hung in the air, I'll be back. and I'll bring more. The apprentice had hissed, as if he were a senior warrior, and had started a war.Rustedpaw turned to his friend and, limping slightly toward her, he smiled lightly. Well, he's gone. Shall we collect our prey and go report back at camp? He asked her, hoping she would say yes.

_________Shattered / heart_________ Shatteredheart nodded, feeling fierce aggression towards the ThunderClan apprentice. How dare they attack ShadowClan! She hissed, and began to go towards camp, feeling the satisfaction of seeing the apprentice flee. She suddenly whipped around and yowled at Tornadopaw, That's right, you better run! She suddenly quickened her pace, eager to get back to camp and report this to Mythstar. Shatteredheart's claws flexed as she half-ran half-walked back to the camp. She would enjoy a battle. Take out all her pain and suffering on the other cats. That seemed like a great idea.

Anger fixated in his mind, making it harder for Rustedpaw to concentrate on where his paws sent him. More than once did he head towards a tree, only to move just in time not to hit it. He tripped once over a bramble thicket that he had almost jumped perfectly. He hissed at it and kept running, until he reached camp, his long legs passing Shatteredheart quickly. Mythstar! He cried, searching for his leader. Mythstar, we have news for you!
