As the gloom of night spread over the RiverClan territory in a thick shadowy cloak, a cry echoed through the camp. It had come from within the apprentices' den, where a small black kitten writhed, before sitting up, moss and leaves clinging to his ruffled pelt. His sea-green eyes were wild with fear and horror as he sat up and began rapidly to groom the scraps of plant from his black coat. Soon it was sleek and waterproof as ever. The kitten got to his paws and shakily padded from the apprentices' den, too uneasy to go back to sleep.
Newtpaw sat near the den, his body hunched over and his eyes glazed. What had the dream said? There are many secrets, some within your own clan, and if they are not revealed, terrible things may occur. He shudderewd. It had been his own dear, deceased sister Tawnypaw who had delivered the message. A small tear slid down his cheek and he made no attempt to wipe it away.

Newtpaw jumped at the sight of his clan deputy, before dipping his head respectfully. The black kitten licked his chest self-consciously, and while his face was hidden he hurriedly wiped away the tear. He then looked up, sea-green eyes slightly sheepish. "Greyfur," he mewed.

Honeypaw poked her head out of the apprentices den. She saw Newtpaw and Grayfur by the fresh-kill pile. She stretched, then stepped out of her den towards them.

[ooc;] 'Course not. [bic;] Newtpaw looked up as another scent reached him. He blinked at Honeypaw, then ducked his head in silent greeting. At least she hadn't snuck up on him. He sighed, trying to forget the chaos of his dream in the whirling thoughts filling his young mind. He licked his chest, just in case another tear fell. He hurriedly stored the memories of the dream and Tawnypaw's desperate face in the back reaches of his mind, shook himself slightly, then mewed: "Hi, Honeypaw."

Honeypaw noticed the miserable look on Newtpaw's face. She didn't say anything though, whatever had happened had made him terribly sad. "Hi," she mewed back cheerfully, "Is there anything I should do today Grayfur?" Honeypaw asked.

Newtpaw looked at the apprentice, then at the deputy. He knew that he should offer to do something too; it might take his mind off of his dream. "What about me, too?" he asked Greyfur.

"We could hunt for the elders if you'd like?" suggested Honeypaw, "Or go on patrol with some warriors?" Honeypaw was very bored, and would have done anything if someone told her to.
