So, this isn't really a story or poetry or anything, but I was feeling descriptive, so I was practicing RPing with Clo, and I made this post, which I decided I liked enough to post here. =]
Mottled paws trampled dead leaves and blades of grass as a lithe tortoiseshell warrior wove between the towering trees. This part of the forest was unfamiliar and strange. The woods here were very dense, and she was filled with a dark and foreboding sense of danger. I shouldn't be here... She thought darkly. the leaves above blocked out the sunlight, and The leaves beneath her paws felt cold and damp, like they were soaked by an eternal rain. She padded through the forest, her paws carrying her blindly, destination unknown to her. For now she would wander. The silence pounded in her ears, broken only by the faint sounds of her own paws beating the ground with each step she took. Above her head a raven's call came, sharp and clear. The hair along Dawnshadow's spine prickled. Leaves rustled as the black bird stretched its wings and took flight, leaving her alone. It was as though she was the only breathing thing left in this place. As she kept walking, the trees grew closer and closer together, and her pelt brushed against the soggy bark. This part of the forest felt hostile and unforgiving, and she knew she had to find some way out. Some way to escape.I'm .cold. as .cold. as .cold. c a n b e
She picked up her pace, and tried to find the way out of these eerie woods. The longer she kept walking, the darker the woods grew, and the more frantic she became. Her breathing became heavier, and she realized she was scrambling up a steep hill. Her claws began to hit rock, and the ground was no longer padded by decaying leaves. Glancing up, Dawnshadow realized that she could see the night sky unfold before her; a starless sky lay above her, unlit by the light from stars. Even the moon seemed to avoid this part of the forest. The trees began to thin out as Dawnshadow reached the top of the incline. A vast ocean stretched out in front of her. Her head spun with the very idea of how large her world could be, and how much was left unexplored.I .want. to .swim. away .but. d o n ' t k n o w h o w

As she stared at the seemingly endless body of water ahead of her, she heard a snapping twig behind her, and she whirled around. Who's following me? Her eyes met empty space. There was nobody there, and instead she found herself staring at the treetops of the dark forest from which she had just emerged. Another twig snapped, this time to her left. Once more, a horrible sense of foreboding grew in the pit of her stomach. Slowly she turned. once more, nothing was there. I’m losing my mind... Dawnshadow thought. Another noise came from the woods, this time the unmistakable noise of breathing. Dawnshadow spun around blindly, scared to death. As she spun, she lost her footing and began to slide down the other side of the hill, tumbling through brambles and bushes, rolling towards the giant sea.Let .the. waves .up. t a k e m e d o w n

Her eyes shut in fear and a sick sensation in her stomach, she stretched out all her limbs, trying desperately to find something to dig her claws into. The roar of the ocean grew nearer, and suddenly she was plunged into total darkness, her breath stolen from her lungs. She was underwater. She struggled to find which way was up, her limbs flailing desperately, in a pitiful attempt to break the surface. Eventually she emerged, and gasped for breath. Waves tossed around her, and everything she was midnight blue. The deep blue waves and midnight sky melted into one along the horizon, spotted by white-capped waves. A faint voice whispered into her ear, telling her to give up, while the same time every inch of her body told her not to stop fighting.Let .the. rain .of. what .I. feel .right. now c o m e d o w n . . .

Her surroundings faded in and out of focus, and she spat in an attempt to get the bitter taste or salt from her mouth. Her head went underwater again, and she coughed and spluttered. Is this the end? Suddenly her hind paws dragged against smooth pebbles. She was on some shore, a different one from which she had just fallen from. She relaxed, and drifted onto a rocky beach, her pelt sandy, her breath labored, the waves calmly lapping at her feet. How peaceful everything is... Her senses faded into a tempting darkness, and she shut her eyes, entering a sleep from which she knew she might never return.[into] the /ocean. - e n d i t a l l -
