Honeypaw?
Duskpaw glanced around, then down to the water. Already she could taste the fish in her mouth, and she bent closer to the water, trying to lean so her shadow wouldn't touch the water.

"I'm here." mewed Honeypaw coming out of a bush. "I found some juniper berries. We could take them back to the Medicine Cat later," she mewed happily. She bounded over to Duskpaw. "So do you want to fish?" she mewed playfully. She croutched down by the river by Duskpaw. She saw a few fish swimming back and forth here and there. She could not wait to catch one.

Duskpaw's paw shot out and a wriggling fish plopped onto the ground beside her. Swiftly, she raked her claws over it, and it lay still.
You first.
She mewed, blinking. She flicked her ears towards the slick fish at Honeypaw's feet.
I'll catch one for me in a bit. Don't worry.

Honeypaw gazed down at the fish. It did look tastey. "Thank you Duskpaw!" she exclaimed. She smiled at the she-cat, then bent down to eat the fish. She devoured it swiftly, then licked her lips. "Mmm..." she mewed, "Thanks!" she mewed again. Then she paddded over to the river. She decided to fish a bit further down stream, as not to disrupt Duskpaw's fishing. She croutched down by the water, and watched it for a moment, swirling over the rocks. It shimmered in the sunlight, sparkling. Then she peered into the water. Her eyes searched for fish. Finally, she spotted one. Her paw darted out, and grabbed the fish. It landed on the ground and Honeypaw pounced on it. She bit it's neck, and it was dead. She carried the fish back to where Duskpaw was. "Do you want this one, or should we bring it back to camp later?" Honeypaw asked.

Duspaw purred.
I'll take it, then we can catch some more for the Clan.
She mewed, already bending back over the water. Her dark paw snaked out and hooked a fish. She brought it up, throwing it into the air and clamping her jaws down on it. She dropped it and padded over to Honeyaw, delicately picking the fish up.

Honeypaw nodded. She trotted down the river again, to a spot further down. She croutched ovet the fast flowing water again, careful not to let her shadow drop on the water. If it did, then the fish would know that she was there. She spotted a dark coloured fish, and decided to catch it. She watched it for another minute before she snatched it with her paw. But the apprentice lost her hold on it, and it plopped back in the water, where it swam franically away. Honeypas hissed. "Mousedung," she spat. The fish had scared away all the fish at this spot. She would have to move downriver again.

Duskpaw atched as the fish slipped out of the apprentice's grasp. She padded towards her, staying away from the water so her shadow wouldn't alert the fish.
You know, my mother pushed me into the water when I was a kit.
She shook herself, as if the water still lingered on her pelt.

Honeypaw stared at Duskpaw in wonder. "Why?" she asked curiously. Honeypaw remembered little of her mother now. But she still remembered her sister as clearly as if she had been standing right in front of Honeypaw. Her sister, who had murdered her best friend. Honeypaw still held the murderous secret of how she had killed her sister; for she had gone crazy. Honeypaw's sister's face still haunted her dreams.

Duskpaw let out a purr, but stopped short.
What's wrong?
She mewed. Then, shrugging, she bit into her fish again.
'Cause I tried to push her in. I ended up swimming with the fishes.
Duskpaw rolled her eyes at her own joke, then blinked affectionately at the other apprentice.
Sorry. I must bore you so much... I haven't really met other cats like you. Most of them are stuck up, but you're not.
She purred again, then went back to her fish.

Honeypaw began to purr. "Thanks," she mewed, then she trotted over to sit beside Duskpaw. "You're not so bad either," she mewed with amusement in her voice. Honeypaw had to admit, that she-cats were much easier to hang around with than toms. She thought of Jinxfire as she this thought crossed her mind. She shook her head, coming back to the present. She smiled at Duskpaw.

Duskpaw blinked and turned back to the river. Nimbly, her furred paw shot into the water. The fish she'd planned on catching swam away, untouched. Angrily, she raked her short claws through the water and turned back. Should we go back now? She mewed, flicking her pointed auds back to where they'd come from.

Honeypaw looked at their small pile of fish that they had caught. "Yes, I guess we should..." meowed Honeypaw, "Are you ready to go? I think we've caught all the fish we can today." Honeypaw got to her paws, then stretched.

Duskpaw glanced down at their pile. She shrugged, shaking herself lightly before padding to Honeypaw's side. I guess... She glanced back up, this time at the sun. It's getting late. Why don't we?

"Okay," meowed Honeypaw, "I'll take one of these." she meowed, and reached down to pick up one of the fish. It smelled tasty, but she had just eaten. This fish was for the Clan. She padded a few paces toward the bushes, then turned back to wait for Duskpaw.
