The wind was vicious. It broke over the land in untaught paths, blind and hence merciless to anything and everything in its way frail enough to break. All around leaves and fragments of life skidded about, taken up by the wind and lost in the gale. Somber black-tainted clouds streamed as lightning crackled between them; the rain was heavy, splashing on the ground and pooling wherever it found space. Not only was it thick, but it was cold, and it soaked straight to the bone.
Among the hellish tempest, four pairs of pearly white claws dug into the ground, quickly becoming tainted with mud. Deep black paws struggled to stay on the ground, and abysmal golden eyes squinted against the wind. The forest was momentarily lit with a flash of lightning, briefly revealing the she-cat's form. She was dull and gray, streaked with raven black stripes. Her tail dragged along the ground, weighed down by her soaking pelt. No longer did her muscles ripple under her fur, instead her striped pelt hung off of weakened shoulders and protruding ribs. She was hungry, yes, and so very alone.

Where was she? The femme looked up, and though she could smell nothing she recognized the small stream that was the ending border of RiverClan. Afraid of getting lost, she turned her steps towards that spot, and followed her memory's trail to the edge of the water. Here it was a bit more sheltered, here where the trees sprouted their roots by the water and the cattails and reeds were thick. The tabby pushed her way to to the water's shore where the plants gave way to a pebbly shore. Her claws groped at the slippery stone until she found a stable place to stand. Finally she gained composure. Not much was running through her mind at that point. She only gazed at the water's surface. Usually it danced over the rocks with a soothing rushing sound, but now it was overflowing, crashing through the miniscule gorge and pulling loose chunks of earth. Taking a few careful steps back, the she-cat glanced up at the sky. The rain still fell steadily, the thunder still crashed, and the lightning still reached for the ground. She wondered what caused such hell. She turned her golden gaze to stare across the border. RiverClan.. she remembered when she had been in such a place. When she had a home. She could still remember those early days of her life, her father staring at her as if she was not good enough. So what if she had been small? Couldn't he still love her? Apparently not. Instead he had hidden her, taken her to a loner to be brought up.

For a moment she could see it, the kind face of her mother, watching her as she finally took a steady breath, the warmth of her brother at her side. But quickly those images were corrupted, replaced with the scournful eyes of her father.. With a sullen blink she lifted her face to the rain, flinching as it hit her skin. The feeling of being touched was unfamiliar to her, and she quickly turned her head back down, and watched the water crawl closer to her paws. It captivated her, the movement of the black waters. Soon the water was lapping at her claws, and as she watched it slowly reached further, past her knees..
