Honeypaw lay down in her nest of grass and moss. After her quarrel with Jinxfire, she had hunted on her way back to camp. She had caught one tiny mouse, and left it on the fresh-kill pile. She had slunk away to the apprentices' den. She tucked her ginger paws under her chest. She closed her eyes to think. Today had been such a strange day. She had fought with Jinxfire, Spiritdream had acted strange, and Pixiefire had started talking about some old friend, Night....
Honeypaw looked up at the darkening sky, and shook her head. She had only wanted to help Jinxfire. She only had wanted a friend. She did not talk much to the apprentices. She had always felt rather out of place. She had been a little straight forward with Jinxfire, Honeypaw could admit that. She had no right to question him, especially after he had said no. He was a warrior, she was an apprentice. She sighed, and drew her paw over her ear.

Duskpaw watched the she-cat, wondering if she should go over to her. She stood, shaking her dark fur and swiping a paw quickly across her ears. She padded carefully towards Honeypaw, sitting a few feet away and looking back over her shoulder before she spoke.
You okay?
She mewed. Her voice cracked, and she scratched at the ground nervously.
I-I mean you seem upset. What's the matter?
Duskpaw looked down at the other apprentice, her head cocked.

Honeypaw flinched at hr words. What's the matter? Those had been the same words she had asked Jinxfire. After that, everything had gone wrong.
But Honeypaw would not react like Jinxfire had. She would answer truthfully. "I...well... me and Jinxfire got into a fight... it's nothing really..." Honeypaw closed her eyes for a moment. She wanted to say sorry to Jinxfire now. But she still couldn't bring herself to back down. She looked back at the dark she-cat and hesitated before replying, "Thanks for asking."

Oh...
Duskpaw layed down beside Honeypaw, flicking her tail lazily.
Give it a while. She won't remember a thing. You'll be fine then.
She mewed, trying to be reasuring, though she didn't even fool herself.

Honeypaw sighed. She looked down at her paws, as a tear trickled down her cheek. She managed to nod in response to Duskpaw's words. She closed her eyes, and thought.
Something was wrong with Jinxfire. He had been so worried looking, so sad. He had said that nothing was wrong. Well, obviously it was not. How could she get him to talk? Honeypaw sighed. Even if she did appologize, he probably would never tell her. And she wouldn't have the courage to ask the question again.
Honeypaw looked up at Duskpaw. She didn't want to drag the apprentice into this mess with her. So she changed subjects, "Would you like to go hunting with me? Or are you going training with your mentor?"

Duskpaw shrugged, flicking her ears uncertainly.
I-I don't really have one yet...
She mewed, looking away. It must be strange if I don't have a mentor yet... She thought. She turned back to Honeypaw.
S-so I guess we could go hunting, if it's alrihgt with you...
She shrugged again, pawing at the ground nervously.

"I don't have a mentor yet either..." murmered Honeypaw, "So yes, let's go. The Clan could always use some extra fresh-kill." Honeypaw stood up and stretched. She poked her head out of the apprentices den. She was making sure that Jinxfire was not there. The golden she-cat was not ready to face him yet. When she was sure that he was no where in sight, she padded out queitly. Then she turned back to wait for Duskpaw.

Duskpaw happily bounded up to Honeypaw, purring.
I haven't been to hunt in a while. I know I'm suposed to, but...
Her voice trailed off, and she flicked her tail, nervous.
Oh well. This will be fun, won't it? I haven't hunted with someone else before.
She mewed, blinking at the other apprentice kindly.

Honeypaw smiled at Duskpaw. It would be great to go out hunting with another apprentice. Sh e hadn't done that in a long time. "Where do you want to go?" Honeypaw asked excitedly. She was already beginning to forget about her quarrel with Jinxfire. She was looking forward to hunting with Duskpaw now.

Duskpaw purred, flicking her tail joyously.
I dunno. How 'bout the river? I feel like fishing.
She mewed, blinking at the thought of fish.

"Okay!" mewed Honeypaw. "To the River!" she mewed, bounding out of camp. She stopped to wait for Duskpaw. She couldn't wait to sink her teeth into a tasty fish. (ooc. let's move to another thread. Meet me at f.ishing.)
