You have to.
No matter what, you have to do this.
She wanted to cry, to suddenly asphyxiate in this heavy, oppressing rain, to fall over and die. She wanted to do anything to escape this, but she knew that that wasn't possible. What would happen next was inevitable, unstoppable.
. . . a t l o n g l a s t , w e w i l l f a l l .
She bent her small, seraphic head to gaze eye-to-eye with Duskpaw. "Don't panic, Dusk," she whispered in the apprentice's velvet ear, her voice breaking. "I will be okay. Just..stay with me, please, when it is over. I don't want the others to start fighting again, and if they do, I want you to go back to camp and get the medicine cat and a warrior or two. I doubt that will happen, though." The dark cat pressed her muzzle to the top of the younger cat's head, and that was it. Her small, thin body tensed, all her muscles alert and coiled, and then she launched herself toward the dueling toms.
n o o n e e l s e w i l l f i g h t . . . s o i m u s t . . .
Unfortunately for her, the earth below her paws was completely saturated with rainwater -- her limbs locked up as she skidded headlong into the fray. damnit! This was NOT how I intended to stop this! She realized that this was more suicidal than heroic, and a sinking feeling bunched up like pools of lead in her stomach. All too breathtakingly soon, she was smack in the middle of the two warring cats and almost immediately, she felt a hard, muscled body slam into hers, the collision as painful and loud in her ears as breaking glass. Caught in the way of one of the warriors, the tom obviously seeing red, Cloudystar wasn't in too much of a good position at all. Gasping as steely claws raked their unintended icy path down her upper shoulder, terrifyingly close to her neck, the dark tabby tried to pull herself away from the fighting, but she just couldn't get out of the moshpit-like scene. "Stop, please stop," she gasped, trying to stand still without being pushed and clawed. Blood was, by now, oozing down her sides, combining with the rain-soaked darkness of her fur and Axel's pawprint from earlier to make her once-beautiful pelt a mixed, dark blur of blood, tears, rain, and mud. The Riverclanner's agonized silver eyes were wide, desperate, hopeless; they closed frequently with each wince that accompanied each painful blow to her delicate body. This was crazy, this was insane. Why'd she do this? Was it to get a head-start on killing herself? She didn't know, but she couldn't take it.
s c r e a m s o f t e r r o r n o w f i l l m y e v e r y b r e a t h . . .
"Stop..please.." Her feeble cries were getting weaker, her once-loudly-projected voice cracking and breaking, reducing to a tiny, frail whisper. "Don't..." She weakly raised one paw, armed with unsheathed claws, unsure of her intentions; but before she could do anything, her limbs failed her, and she collapsed onto the mud. The soaked earth cushioned her fall and the mud stained her fur more, the vehemently bleeding wounds stinging furiously when rain and mud seeped into them. A short, deep gash was spread across one cheekbone, her left cheek, right below one extremely pained pale orb; blood was slowly cascading down her fur, staining it.
e y e s o p e n t o s p a t t e r e d b l o o d . . .
The sky seemed to add it's fury and agony to the scene, giving them another onslaught of rain and several more clashing bursts of thunder mingled with swiftly darting lightning bolts. The deluge of rain seemed to help clean off her fur a bit, but it wasn't helping the pain one bit. Her wounds burned like fire, as if someone had carved out selected gashes on her body with a blade heated so hot it became almost cold, a deadly weapon of fire and ice. Her whole frail anatomy ached all over from the frequent collisions with the hard, streamlined bodies of the warriors. But slowly, ever so slowly this was all fading, fading and darkening until it was but a small pinprick in her vision, a dot of red surrounded by black. And then her vision faded to complete black, a deep abyss of soft pain and slumber. Memory, thought, sound, smell, sight all ceased to exist as the world became nothing.

ooc: Gray's not here, but I so badly wanted to post this after having a bout of inspiration. Plus, Clo kept poking me to do this. >_> ^-^
:Spikeshard
bic: Everything seemed to still and stifle the air. His predatory movements came to a halt as he watched that alluring, silver body slide in the mud. His heart skipped a beat before it seemed to halt completely, freezing him in his place. For the first time since the fight, he was keenly aware of the striking cold that came with the raining droplets. They splattered onto his pelt, staining his argent fur into a dark mass and dripping off the hairs of his coat. The metallic taste in his mouth made itself painstakingly know as did the blood on his claws. Her blood. Sapphire eyes widened with shock, realization, and horror above else. Spikeshard began to tentatively approach the still, lithe figure; as if afraid of what he would find to be true. The dark clouds hung above his head ominously and water continued to fall.
| I | can | take | the | rain | on | the | roof | of | this | empty | house, | that | don't | bother | me. |
The plated warrior padded with a frightening silence, his pelt suddenly ragged from the rain. Every hair on his pelt was covered in water and his mind kept telling him, screaming at him, to turn away, to run from the dreadful scene of his still leader. But he wasn't listening anymore. Spikeshard swallowed the lump in his throat as his frightened eyes began to glimmer with tears, their cobalt hues taking in the bloodied form of his beloved leader. Oh StarClan! What have I done?! Oh Cloudystar, please no! No this is all wrong! Tears he couldn't cry continued to well up in his eyes as the he stopped next to the sterling she-cat. It can't be...
| I | can | take | a | few | tears | now | and | then | and | just | let | 'em | out. |
Cloudystar's body had been mangled, shred from the ferocity of sharp claws reinforced by anger and hatred. The red liquid of life was slowly seeping from the side wounds on her form, staining the mud with a crimson shade. There was a sloshing sound as his paws began to sink in the mud. Even though he couldn't find the strength to cry, his heart had ceased all functions to sob in agony. Spikeshard dipped his head, rain drops sliding down his argent face. The RiverClan tom gently nudged his sweet one, willing her to wake up with his wide cobalt eyes. He wanted her to open her achromatic orbs and tell he needn't worry, that she was alright. But that was not the case and that did not happen. Cloudystar continued to lay motionless on the riverbed.
| What | hurts | the | most... |
Spikeshard's still heart began to rapidly beat with fear as he nudged Cloudystar's soaked fur again. His dark lapis lazulis shimmered with tears and pain. The silver bengal whirled his head around, eyes frantic. "Duskpaw! Get a medicine cat now! We need someone's healing skills!" Spikeshard cried. Lightning flashed in the sky, illuminating his once murderous face, now alight with horror and tears. With shallow breathing, Spikeshard turned to Cloudystar, ignoring Axelflame's presence for the moment. The tom cat edged closer to his bleeding leader. He gazed at her wounds with stricken-disbelief. Spikeshard bent his head and licked Cloudystar's cold, wet cheek. "Cloudystar please, wake up! Please! I don't want you to lose any of your lives! Not because of me!" He rambled, voice desperate and fearful.
| ...was | bein' | so | close...|
Tears were bright in his eyes as he nudged her prone figure. To see her slim, beautiful pelt marred by blood and rain was disheartening for the plated warrior. It made his heart sore to see her like this, vulnerable and weak. Spikeshard's tongue began to rasp over her face, trying to wake her with what little warmth his body could offer. "Please Cloudystar." He was begging by now, his legs crouched. Rain continued to sting his fur with an icy cold, washing away the blood from the battle. She must have been in StarClan's paws by now, unable to hear his mews. The warrior shuddered and swept his gaze on Axelflame. Unable to bear the cold emerald eyes, Spikeshard averted his gaze back to silver form next to him.
| ...and | havin' | so | much | to | say. |
"I love you." Spikeshard whispered brokenly, his heart aching as he pressed his face into Cloudystar's cold cheek. The argent tom wrapped his tail around her slim shoulders. Her scent still lingered, still present even with all the blood, dirt, and rain. He wanted to tell her so much more than his whispered confession, but he choked on the lump in his throat and the ache in his heart, He wanted to tell her that he was proud to be her warrior, proud to be her friend. He wanted to tell her that, if he could be the father of her kits, he would be so happy, The tears glimmered in sapphire eyes. He wanted to see her smile again, wanted to hear her troubles so he could lend his shoulder for her cry on. He didn't want this! Not this! The plated warrior couldn't bare to see her, prone figure appearing miserable with her blood.
"I love you so much." Spikeshard choked.

ooc: Spikee! *holds fists* I wanted u to wait! Oh well. Back now.
IC: Axel stopped at Cloudystar's plea. Lifting his auburn head, he glanced att he direction of her. His eyes widened at what he saw. Blood pumped out of her shoulder, and the silver eyes seemed to get dimmer adn dimmer. This was not what Axel had wanted. he screamed and ran over to Clo. Gasping, he mewed,"No, NO!" Tears welled up in his eyes. He was too sad to glare at spike or argue about whose fault it was. Becasue he already knew the answer.
It was his.
A trickle of blood oozed down his chin from his lower lip. The tom's emerald green eyes lit up with fear. He shut his eyes and gritted his teeth, digging his stain ed claws into the grassy interior. streams of tears slid down his plae cheeks, and he tucked his head between his forelegs, in fear of someone seeing him. "Clo... CLO!" He cried as he let out a shrill scream of terror.
[ s u p p r e s s e d b y a l l m y c h i l d i s h f e a r s ]
Axel whimpered and collapsed hard on the ground, sobbing pitifully. He didn't care if Spike was going to critisize him. He had no place here. Spike and Clo had a future together, and what was he to break it all up? His emerald eyes were watery and hs black pupils were mere slits. The tom's re paws dug deeper into the ground. He just wanted to get away from it all.
[ a n d i f y o u h a v e t o l e a v e ]
"This was all my fault," he choked, pain rushing to his heart. Indeed, it was. Spike knew that Axel had just used Clo, and the RiverClan leader knew it too. But here, sitting with the RiverClanners, Axel realized that he lived Cloudysar very much. But he could never admit it, because it was not to be forgiven. he had messed up, and this was his sin: shame. "I'm so... sorry," he whispered to Spike.
[ i w i s h t h a t y o u d j u s t l e a v e ]
"No, No, This isn't happening," he screamed as he watched Cloudy's expression. he bit his lip to hold in screams of terror. "Clo... you're still here right? This is a joke, right? I... didn't kill you? Clo? CLO? NNNNNYYYYAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!"

for hours i tried to outrun the sun [[tried to s p e a k with a mouthful of b l o o d]] Don't panic, Dusk, The apprentice raised her head, confused. Something pressed down her her from above, clouded fur filling her eyesight. Cloudy..star? Her voice was feeble, weak. Fear clouded her eyes as the she-cat left her side. Cloud.. Her paws sank deeper into the mud as she attempted to stand. Realization clawed at her heart and left her numb and cold. Is this death? Slowly, Dusk pulled her paws from the slick mud, trudging silently to Cloudystar's side. T-this is a joke, right? You're going to wake up, and it's all going to be fine! Dusk found her voice rising to a shrill scream. She wasn't reassuring Cloudystar, she was reassuring herself. Never had she felt so lost. Duskpaw couldn't mask the fear in her voice. This was too real. Cloud.. Cloudystar, please.. but im still c h o k i n g on your t e a r s //still im choking on your tears;; Duskpaw's body was rigid, her eyes glazed over in despair. Pain throbbed in her heart. She turned on Axel. Look what you've done to her! Nothing would have happened if you'd just.. if you would have stayed away from her! Her voice cracked and low, almost a snarl. The blood on her untouched pelt was smeared by the rain. With each boom of thunder, a sob shook her body. Can't you just.. Go back to where you came from? You've d-done enough here. Nobody wants you. Duskpaw's voice was bitter with the pain of a loss. Why hadn't Cloudystar gotten up yet? The apprentice prodded the lifeless form with a dark paw. Cloudy?.. Wake up.. Please. We need you. words slowly fall of my tongue ..maybe I never tried hard enough all these times

Behind those two closed eyelids, darkness reigned. Distractedly, dimly, the leader's subconscious noticed there were no bright lights, no tunnels. A dull pain was spreading throughout her limp body, edging up her limbs and spreading along her small frame like tingling ice; her mind feebly tried to summon up the energy to move a limb or twitch an ear, anything -- but each limb was unresponsive, each weak command given was ignored. Was she dead? No, she couldn't be; she would have seen the light by now, gone to Starclan or whatever it was, and had a life snatched away. This was...different. She was simply here, unable to move yet half awake. Wasn't death supposed to be bright and quick and painless? Probably so..so why was she feeling the slow, stealthy pain creep up her body?
Yes, she was sure now that she was alive. Or her subconscious was sure, that is..
a n d , b a r e l y c o n s c i o u s , y o u ' l l s a y t o n o o n e : " i s n ' t s o m e t h i n g m i s s i n g ? "
Then, so suddenly, it happened. One moment she was caged in a dark, unfeeling stupor, and the next brought life. Her mind reawakened, her chest heaved in an attempt to breathe, and her tired silver eyes slowly blinked open. Senses returned slowly: the smell of blood, tears, and rain; the sight of Spikeshard's pained, crying face floating in and out of view, the dark, stiff form of Duskpaw, the flaming red pelt of Axel collapsed on the ground; the sound of agonized wailing, choked sobs, the relentless storm; the feel of excruciating pain ripping her apart, of blood slowly trickling out of her wounds, of the cold, soaked earth seeping into her wet fur, of gentle, pleading paws and muzzles being pressed softly onto unwounded parts of her body; the taste of gritty earth in her mouth, of salty blood, of cool, clean rain. Everything was achingly vivid, crashing down onto her weak mind, an overkill of emotion and agony and thoughts.
i f i s m i l e a n d d o n ' t b e l i e v e , s o o n i k n o w i ' l l w a k e f r o m t h i s d r e a m . . .
Make it stop, she wanted to scream; she opened her jaws hesitantly, gingerly. But instead of screaming out in pain and exhaustion like she so wanted to, she put every ounce of effort into whispering, "Spike. Dusk. Axel. Please d-don't..--" Her hoarse voice was abruptly cut off by a fit of coughing and she clenched her jaw, her muddy claws unsheathing slowly to sink themselves into the drenched earth. With each spasm she tensed and the sky flickered darkly with lightning, as if mocking her. The bout of coughing soon lapsed into wheezing, her breathing labored. After several hard swallows and long exhales, she managed to finish her sentence. "...don't worry."
r a i n c l o u d s c o m e t o p l a y a g a i n . . .
Her pale eyes wandered to the angry storm above, torpidly following the striking veins of white-blue lightning as they stretched across the oceans of deep blue-black, brightening then dissipating along swirls and curves of the thick cumulonimbus clouds, encouraging the roar and crash of thunder and the ruthless swells of cold rain that plummeted down on the earth and the pained cats below. The frigid precipitation felt soothing on the dark tabby's battered and bruised pelt, mixing with the blood and earth once more. It was so surreal, what had happened. Did it really happen, or was it a dream?
s u d d e n l y i k n o w i ' m n o t s l e e p i n g . . .
No, it had to be real..her mind couldn't possibly conjure up the fresh sting and stab of each wound as the raindrops mixed with her seeping cuts. The weight of the fight began to take its toll on the despondent leader, and her muscles groaned as they remembered the impacts of streamlined feline bodies colliding; her body began to ache even more. Cloudystar's pale silver eyes ceased to a tired close and she mumbled a few words, shuddering and beginning to shiver from the cold. So cold.

Spike. Dusk. Axel. Please d-don't.. Her blood froze. She wasn't supposed to be saying that. ...don't worry. Dusk shook her head, her body falling uselessly to the ground, like a tainted stain beside the clouded fur. N-no.. Her voice broke. Tears trickled from her eyes, streaming down her drak skull. Raindrops clung to her fur, making it glisten dully. Dusk's paw twitched, her claws flexing. She touched Cloudystar's soft fur, the terror in her eyes dulled. Please, no. You have to be okay.. Why did her Leader look so lifeless? The apprentice's small frame shook from the sobs that pounded her body. The she-cat's breathing evened slowly, coming out in small gusts. Agony and pain filled her body as she stood, tail hanging limp behind her. Eyes only barely opened she looked up at the dark sky. StarClan, wherever they were, had no mercy. The green orbs dropped to the still body below her. A sympathetic feel clouded her gaze. She tilted her head, body leaning over slightly. Her skull felt so heavy.. Her eyelids fluttered, each time they closed catching an unwanted glimpse of the wasted gray-cloud body. She whispered something, lifting a limp paw and touching a darkened tabby marking on Cloud's frail figure. You'll be okay, won't you? She asked, blinking.

Because we need you here. They don't- Her voice cracked, and her small head lifted to the lightening-crossed sky. ..they don't have a n-need for you. Duskpaw swallowed. The she-cat sat painfully beside the pitiful body, leaning slightly as to shield it from the rain. Her eyes were on the sobbing toms. Their screams barely reached her ears. Her eyes were distant, a slight smile on her dark face. Her paws slid from beneath her slowly and she lay silently beside Cloudystar. The dark eyes met her Leader's pale silver ones, and shock ran like the lightening from above through her body. Why did she look so lifeless? The leader muttered something, and Duskpaw leaned closer. It's okay.. You're okay. She whispered. Dark paws slipped across Cloudystar's back gently touching the ground on the other side. The she-cat pulled herself over the body, covering it the best she could from the pelting rain. Blood from the deep wounds leaked into her fur, only to make it a black and become almost invisible in the dark of the night. The she-cat looked up, dark eyes fearfully searching Spikeshard's cobalt orbs for some sign of recognition. He was so close, leaning in to touch Cloudystar's cheek. I love you so much. Pity rolled through her body. It must be so strange to see the clouded she-cat like this. Loneliness choked her, making the few reamaining sobs harded on her small frame.

:Spikeshard
"Spike. Dusk. Axel. Please d-don't..
"...don't worry."
Those words were enough to melt away the fear and soothe his soul. His erratic breathing and hammering heart slowed down considerably. Dark blue pools widened slightly at the she-cat's movement. The darkly-tipped ears upon the plated warrior's crown perked up, their edges quivering. Pushing closer Spikeshard peered into the dazed silver eyes with apprehension, his face nervous. "You're awake?" The warrior asked tentatively, his voice still shaking with fear.
Seeing the shivers running up and down the RiverClan leader's body, the silver bengal crouched down and pressed his fur against hers. "Thank StarClan you're alright." Spikeshard choked on his own voice, quivering from the adrenaline that had been pulsing through his veins. Her nuzzled her face, taking in her scent. It was mixed with the aroma of rainwater.
| It's | not | too | late...|
Shuddering heavily, Spikeshard wrapped his argent tail around Cloudystar's body. The wetness on his fur caused the two silver pelts to clump together, water leaking between the two felines. Sapphire eyes glanced up when a slight chill blew over. "The rain's letting up." The plated warrior glanced up, noticing that the clouds were beginning to disperse and a weak ray of sunshine was breaking through. However the chill still remained in the air, freezing droplets of rainwater on fine silver fur. Did we stay here for a whole night? Or does night have yet to come?
| ...it's | never | too | late. |
"Can you get up?" Spikeshard whispered quietly, his breath caressing Cludystar's dark ear. Deep blue swirled in a sad way within the tom's eyes. A helpless feeling began to gnaw at him as he listened to Axeflame's haunted cries and Duskpaw's heart wrenching sobs. His tears had dried up, gone with the rain after Cloudystar had awoke. Now all he wanted to do was help get back to camp and guide her to her nest, away from this cold place. Breathing gently Spikeshard pressed closer to the sterling femme, waiting for some response, any response.
When the silver bengal received none he turned his head and blinked at the sobbing red rogue, feeling his helplessness and worry throb in his paws. Dark silver ears flattened against the tom's skull and bristled coldly. "Axelflame stop that. Cloudystar's awake, but we need to get her to a medicine cat or we need to get the medicine cat here." Spikeshard mewed authoritatively.
| I | hate | feeling | like | this..|
The RiverClan tom turned to gaze at Duskpaw, his face taking on a pleading expression. Rising to all four paws the silver bengal approached the tearful apprentice. Licking the young she-cat's ears in a comforting gesture Spikeshard mewed urgently, "Duskpaw, you have to return to the camp and get the medicine cat. Cloudystar needs help. Please do this." Sapphire eyes rested on the tabby's bright green orbs.

The red cat looked up at Spikeshard. He was so brave. Axel would give anything to be him. A real RiverClanner. He sighed. Looking at Dusk, he whispered, "You ok?" it was a kind question, one that Axel didn't use very often. But it wasn't often that his love had just fallen to the hands of two fighting cats. He got up and wiped hsi eyes with his paws.
[ t e l l m e w h a t a r e f i g h t i n g f o r ]
Axel closed hsi eyes tight as a wave of regret adn sadness washed over him. Duskpaw... She cared about her leader. What would she think about him now? Woudl she hate him? And more importantly... what about Clo? What woudl happen to her? Would she remember... Axel turned hsi head away from spike. Of course she would.
[w e 've g o t t o e n d t h i s w a r ]
This had been enough for the poor loner. Getting in a fight was one, but someone that he cared about getting hurt really shook him up. His green eyes fell to the ground. he had gotten in a stupid agrument. He shoudl have left when he could. The fur on his neck tingled and Axel grimaced, his claws flying out. He had no where to run.
[ w e s h o u l d l o v e o n e a n o t h e r ]
The riverClanner dipped his head. Spike really cared for Clo? Maybe he had a better chance with her than Axel did. They were meant to be together. The red cat lowered his head at spike. He was giving him full respect. If He wante Clostar, then fine. He wouldn't interfere. "You.. love her, don't you?" he asked in a heasitant voice.
[ oh c a n t w e j u s t p r e t e n d ]
He hummed a bit, but stopped once he locked onto Clostar. Dusk was trying to help her by keeping her calm, he smile at that. She was cute too, a beautiful female. He was afraid maybe Clan life wasn't suit for him, but he wasn't giving up just yet. The emerald eyed warrior locked with Spike's dark pools. They wer ebeautful, goregous. But spike shouldn't know.
[ w e c a n t r y ]
The red plated warrior got off his knees and looked at Spike. So they needed a medicine cat. Axel wasn't at all familiar with it. He looked away. "Um, I dont know what... a medicine cat is..." he muttered, embarassed. Flushing, he looked away. "Do you want to try to look for one? Dus can stay here with Clo." he gave Spike a kind look, one that was foreign to the young warrior.

Duskpaw, you have to return to the camp and get the medicine cat. Cloudystar needs help. Please do this. Their words raced through her mind. Medicine Cat? No, Cloudy would be fine on her own. Wouldn't she? No.. I can't.. I don't know.. Her tongue seemed numb as she fought to find the right words to say. What was wrong with her? The apprentice's small body slipped suddenly, and the she-cat fell quickly to the ground. Dusk raised her head from the mud, resting it gently on the clouded silver fur beside her. Her mind fell silent as she felt the slow rise and fall of Cloudystar's sides. At least she's breathing.. One thing seemed right. Would her nightmare end soon? Her dark eyes flicked open. Rain dribbled slowly down her furred skull as she looked up. I don't- Her voice caught. Yet no worry clouded her eyes or shook her small-frame. Duskpaw's tail twitched, her dark auds tilted almost comically forward. I don't know what to do.

Dusk stood, slick mud sliding off her damp pelt and falling to the ground. She felt the rogue's eyes on the back of her head, and her small paws kneaded the wet ground nervously. The feeling lifted, and she looked up at the silver bengal. Do you want to try to look for one? Dusk can stay here with Clo. The apprentice turned, dark orbs clear and untroubled. The anger that had cloaked her heart so thickly bled away, its replacement turning Duskpaw's skin warm beneath the cold rain. Sympathy gave her the strength to smile, her head tilted slightly to the side. Her eyes scanned the rogue's flaming face, seaching for some hint of an escape plan. Finding none, she settled quietly back on her haunches, dark tail sweeping the mud as it curled around her paws. It's fine, She said. She blinked slightly at Axel, then turned back to Spikeshard. If you need me to.. I can.
